Free Houston Symphony concert - The Princess Bride movie

While this is being posted as an event, it's more of a notification. We've tried to sit together at these free concerts at the Pavilion before with little success. The seats are a bit of a free for all, unless you all arrive at the same time. It's best to get in touch with friends and show up at the gate together. Finding 2-4-6 seats together is pretty easy - a group of 15 or more is a problem unless you're front in line at the gate when it opens. All that being said, a free Houston Symphony concert at the Pavilion is a real gift. This time they will be playing the soundtrack of a really good (now old) movie; The Princess Bride ('87) . It's a romance-comedy-adventure-fantasy flick with a clever script. A lot of movie fans consider it a modern classic. It's a fun way to see a movie and the symphony adds more than you might think it would to the experience. The Gates open at 7pm and the movie starts at 8pm. I usually go to the Happy Hour at Kirby Icehouse and head over shortly after the gates open at 7pm. I try to sit in the seats closest to stage in the middle section. The best seats are roped off and reserved for the groups that help sponsor the event. The movie runs 1 hour 38 minutes. Obviously there's no limit on attendance or guests. Even if it rains, unless there's lightning, they will go on with the show and you can sit under the canvas tenting. No dancing but well worth going to.
