The New Canaan YMCA is pleased to partner with the In a Heartbeat Foundation to provide free cardiac screenings to our community’s kids, teens, and young adults. In A Heartbeat will be on site to provide free electrocardiogram (ECG) screenings that can identify risks for sudden cardiac death. The test is quick, simple, and painless! Free and open to school-age kids and older in the community. Location: New Canaan YMCA Wagner Room Know the Facts: • 1 in 300 youth has an undetected heart disease • Sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) is the leading cause of death among student-athletes • 23,000 youth per year suffer SCAs • A stethoscope misses 96% of heart disease in youth • ECG screening in young adults can detect approximately 60% of the abnormalities or “markers” from certain serious heart conditions that are associated with sudden cardiac death that a stethoscope cannot Register for your ECG test today!
