Free bachata and salsa dancing in Newark, NJ. Beginner classes at 8pm, social dancing at 9pm, live concert by ESME, and a free buffet. No partner needed. Bachata Heaven Social is turning 4, and we're throwing the whole thing open no cover, no ticket price, no catch. Minimum one drink per attendee to support the local business. This is not a singles event. NEVER DANCED BEFORE? START HERE. The 8:00pm and 8:30pm classes are built for total beginners. Jonathan and Carlita (JDaBachata and DJ Carliita) teach the basic steps from zero — you will learn enough in 30 minutes to get on the floor and actually dance. You do NOT need a partner. Most people come alone. We rotate partners during class so everyone dances. You do NOT need dance shoes or special clothes. Come as you are — smart casual is perfect. ALREADY DANCE? THE FLOOR IS YOURS. From 9:00pm the social is wide open — sensual bachata, dominican bachata, and salsa on 1. Good music, good floor, dancers who lead and follow well, and a room that isn't 20 people staring at their phones. At 10:00pm, live performances from the Rhythm in Motion Hip-Hop Team and the Jersey Shore Salsa Ladies.
