FORIEGNER | Strange Birds in Scranton Friday, October 9–Saturday, October 10, 2026 | Friday 7:30 PM; Saturday 4 & 8:30 PM FORIEGNER comes to Strange Birds in Scranton, PA, on Friday, October 9, and Saturday, October 10, as part of the 2026 Scranton Fringe Festival. Performances are Friday at 7:30 PM and Saturday at 4 and 8:30 PM. This solo performance explores Sohrab Haghverdi’s experience as an Iranian asylum seeker through an autobiographical and unconventional clown show. The production examines themes of art, immigration and identity while simultaneously explaining and resisting simple explanations of Haghverdi’s experiences. Inspired by the comedy of Andy Kaufman and the writings of Sufi mystic Rumi, FORIEGNER was co-created by Koan Brothers members Sohrab Haghverdi, Benjamin Rosenthal and Mason Rosenthal. The production is a recipient of the Al-Bustan Award for SWANA Artists. Tickets are $15. FORIEGNER brings an experimental mix of autobiography, clowning and comedy to the Scranton Fringe Festival in Scranton.
