About this event
Join Rachael Kangas, the Director for the West Central and Central Regions of the Florida Public Archaeology Network, as she discusses 14,000 years of Florida history at the Lakeland Public Library. Did you know oranges were NOT in Florida when the first people arrived? This talk covers the basics of 14,000 years of pre-contact Florida. Learn about when people arrived and how life in the sunshine state has changed (including the introduction of citrus, including oranges). The talk focuses on the West-Central Region, but will include some discussion of the rest of Florida and North America! No registration required. This event is for ages 18+.
