Guest Speaker: Alyssa Gregory Flora and Fauna Illustrata, an ongoing project to document and celebrate the diversity of life at the University of Minnesota Landscape Arboretum through fine art. Flora and Fauna Illustrata (FFI) is an ongoing project to document and celebrate the diversity of life at the University of Minnesota Landscape Arboretum — from the tiny green frog to the great green ash tree. Flora and Fauna Illustrata began in 2015 as a collaboration between the Library and the Arboretum. Since then, it has grown to include over 100 juried works of art by over 30 artists! Alyssa Gregory is a library assistant at the Andersen Horticultural Library and the coordinator of the Flora and Fauna Illustrata Project. She will talk about this important artistic and scientific collection, which documents the plants, animals and insects that grow and live at the Arboretum. A brief biography for your introduction. Alyssa Gregory is a library assistant at the Andersen Horticultural Library, where she coordinates the Flora and Fauna Illustrata project and curates the children’s book collection. She also supports outreach events at the Bell Museum, where she enjoys bringing specimens and activities from the Bell to communities around the Twin Cities and contributing to the museum’s blog. She is currently an Artist in Residence at Lakewood Cemetery, where she is working on a project to highlight the lichen of Lakewood’s headstones through painting and printmaking.
