First Friday: Ben Trumbo's “Fine Grain”

>> Ben Trumbo’s “Fine Grain” woodprint photography Statement from the artist: These images have been exercises in exploration and patience with mistakes. Each piece contains what was initially considered a mistake, but by allowing our remain, & continuing with the work, new directions were found. New sources of fulfillment and new perceptions were discovered. Incorporating other materials, like paint, glue, and even glitter, has also expanded my ideas of what it can mean to “write with light”. The frames were either thrifted or handmade using scrap wood and the generosity of a friend and woodworker. About the artist: I have been using photography to explore the world around me for most of my life. Moving from point shoots and film to digital SLRs and even pinhole camera made from beer cans, I have tried to use these tools & techniques to share how I see the world, and our abilities to make it a more beautiful & engaging place.
