About this event

This event is for adults and youth over the age of 12. Learn how to sew and design your own leather bookmark! In this workshop, Elise Michaels will show participants how to make a fun & different bookmark using leather! She will demonstrate how to design it, cut it out, and sew it together. There are so many options available: you can paint it, stamp it, layer colors, and more! We will have enough time for participants to be able to make a couple. They make great gifts! Things to bring: Ear plugs, if you have them. It can get noisy! Abilities needed: Hand dexterity & grip strength, ability to hammer, thread needle & sew, pick up small hardware pieces & attach to project. About the Instructor: Lots of folks know Elise from her 30 years on Central Oregon radio & TV. By day, she is a web designer & builder, but in her spare time she runs Bench Studio in Bend. Bench Studio offers classes for leather projects ranging from trinket trays, dog collars, and wallets to Crossbody bags, and Tote Bags. Bench Studio was born out of a love of not only working with my hands, but working with leather! I started over 40 years ago, and in recent years decided I just needed to GO FOR IT and share the skills of leathercrafting. It always amazes me the things that can be made with leather even in just 2 hours time. Questions? Contact moo@deschuteslibrary.org
