About this event

As FIRE enthusiasts (Financial Independence Retire Early), we tend to plan ahead and get our affairs in order so we can do whatever it is we want to do with our lives. So come join us for a guest presentation with estate planning attorney Michelle-Shari Kruss. This is a great chance to end 2026 with a final accomplishment under your belt; i.e., jumpstart any estate planning you need to do or get some questions answered. If estate planning hasn’t been on your radar yet, this meetup may help get you ready to dive in. This conversation could go in a variety of directions depending on the attendee's situations. Here’s a list of concerns that Michelle-Shari regularly helps clients with that might get you thinking about what questions you have: * What is the difference between a Will and Revocable Trust. * What is probate, what property is subject to it and what ways can you avoid it. * Understanding how real property can be (should be) titled. * Coordinating life/retirement beneficiary designations with planning. * Understanding the impact of the new SECURE Act. * Temporary Guardianship Affidavit. How is it different from a Temporary Guardian appointed in your Will? * Incapacity Powers: Physician Advance Directive, Durable Power of Attorney, Digital Asset and HIPAA. * How to choose the best Guardian (both temporary and permanent). * Business continuation planning concerns. Are two DPOA(s) in order? * Strategies to avoid or reduce estate taxes. Oregon 1 million limit. * Addressing virtual/digital property. RUFADAA: Revised Uniform Fiduciary Access to Digital Accounts Act. * Avoiding Will contests or other disputes upon death. * Addressing the special needs of a blended family. * Protecting children’s inheritance by establishing a testamentary trust. * Why placing a real estate rental into a LLC is a good idea? * Addressing issues around being married to a non-US Citizen. And blended families. **\*\*\***Note that this event is educational in nature and not a marketing…
