About this event
Please watch one or more episodes in advance and join us to discuss "The Enemies Project," a fascinating initiative in which "Peacemaker" Larry Rosen brings people who see each other as enemies into direct, face-to-face conversation. The objective is not to debate or to reach agreement, but to help each achieve a full and fair understanding of the other to discover the humanity in an “enemy” with a fiercely oppositional worldview. Since it’s a controversy that we haven’t yet explored in our NM Alliance forums, we encourage you to watch the episode that brings together a Palestinian and a Jew. However, if a different episode piques your interest, feel free to watch it either in lieu of, or in addition to the recommended episode. We hope to focus on the formula for these engagements and the impact and effectiveness more than any specific issue. Larry Rosen has already filmed over a dozen episodes (all about an hour long) found here, bringing together, for example: a Proud Boy and a Progressive; a White cop and a Black protester; a gay man and a preacher; a transgender woman and a MAGA gender-fundamentalist; two MAGA loyalists on opposite sides of the immigration policy fracture. We look forward to discussing techniques for finding humanity in our enemies.
