All he wants is to be a mariachi musician, like his father, his grandfather and his great grandfather before him. But the town he thinks will bring him luck brings only a curse--of deadly mistaken identity. Forced to trade his guitar for a gun, the mariachi musician is playing for his life. Shot on a budget of $7,000, El Mariachi is Robert Rodriguez's debut directorial effort, and was the first film in his "Mexico Trilogy", followed by Desperado and Once Upon a Time in Mexico. This film is in Spanish with English subtitles. This film is rated "R" for strong violence. This film screening is made possible by Los Amigos of East Los Angeles Library.
