About this event

Tickets SOLD OUT $250 | Includes all materials Waitlist Join Susan Bachemin, printmaker-in-residence, for a dynamic exploration of the figure through monotype printmaking. Working from a live model, participants will utilize techniques that are uniquely suited to the medium to explore gesture and line, as well as building the human form through light and dark shapes. Over the course of six hours, participants will develop their own interpretations of the figure through observation, and reach into the possibilities of the monotype process as ink comes to life on paper through the magic of the press. Participants will also learn basic press operation, printing their own works on our American French Tool and Conrad Machine etching presses. Some knowledge of monotype printmaking is recommended but not required. All necessary tools and materials will be provided, and created works can be taken home at the conclusion of the workshop. About Susan Bachemin Susan Bachemin is an artist-printmaker and arts-educator with a BFA in printmaking from Carnegie Mellon University. Her multi-tiered experience in a variety of printing disciplines has enabled her the privilege of assisting extraordinary artists at the press, in concert with a career of travel creating public and private mural and print commissions featured in publications such as World of Interiors, NYT Styles, and New York Behind Closed Doors (Polly Devlin). While co-owner of her Brooklyn-based design partnership SB Studios LLC, she independently exhibited in group shows at various venues including Ronald Feldman and Ridge Street galleries. Currently rooted in this extraordinary community of east end artists, as Printmaker-in Residence at The Church, Bachemin embraces the role of facilitator of prints as a missionary of the monotype, intaglio, and silkscreen processes, and as an advocate for art access for all.
