About this event
Join us as we dive into **Chuck Palahniuk**’s cult novel \*\*\*Fight Club \*\*\*(1996) and David Fincher’s incendiary 1999 film adaptation. Palahniuk’s darkly comic novel follows an insomniac office worker whose search for meaning grows into a dangerous underground movement, skewering consumerism, masculinity, and alienation. Fincher’s stylized, bruising adaptation turns that interior story into a bold visual spectacle, using unreliable narration, editing, and performance to sharpen—and sometimes reshape—the novel’s violence, satire, and ending. We’ll **read the book separately and watch the movie together**—and then discuss each medium and the adaptation process.
