Fall Candle Making Workshop

@ Discover the art of candle making through a creative, hands-on workshop that blends craftsmanship, storytelling, and Gullah Geechee cultural traditions with Jackie Williams in the Discovery Center classroom. Participants will learn candle-making basics, explore the history of scent as a form of storytelling, and create a custom candle using fragrance blends inspired by traditional Gullah Geechee botanicals. Participants will personalize their candles with unique scents, herbs, and decorative elements that reflect their own stories, then complete their creations with a custom label and packaging. The workshop concludes with a brief reflection on the meaning behind each participant’s fragrance choices and their connection to culture and tradition. Each participant will leave with a handcrafted candle, a candle care and fragrance guide, and a deeper appreciation for storytelling through scent. The experience also includes an interactive scent station and a complimentary seasonal hot tea station.
