Faculty Speaker Series | Dr. Elizabeth Harwood
Dr. Harwood will speak about “Challenging common myths about mental illness.” Even though 1 in 5 adults will experience a mental illness in any given year, misconceptions around mental illness continue to contribute to public stigma. Negative stereotypes can lead to lower prioritization of public health funding, poorer quality of healthcare, and social isolation. Dr. Harwood’s presentation will challenge these common myths and provide examples of how to support and advocate for healthier communities.
