Exploring Cyanotype with Angela LeClair September 26th, 10am-Noon Cora Annex, Ridgway Tuition: $60 Discover the magic of alternative photography in this beginner-friendly, hands-on workshop! Learn how to create beautiful cyanotype prints using light-sensitive chemicals, sunlight, and altering the classic blue hues using natural botanical toning agents. You’ll learn the basics of coating watercolor paper, arranging flowers, leaves, lace, or negatives, and exposing your designs to UV light to create the classic cyanotype blue. Then, experiment with natural botanical toning techniques using coffee and tea to transform your prints into rich sepia, charcoal, grey, and eggplant tones. Each student will create their own finished project and can choose between an 8×10 glass frame or wood slices for creating botanical ornaments. What to Bring: Optional: 3–5 flat objects such as pressed flowers, leaves, feathers, lace, or other items to incorporate into your prints. A variety of materials will also be provided. An apron or dark clothing that can get stained. Come explore the surprising possibilities of sun printing and create unique botanical artwork to take home! About Angela LeClair: Artist & Illustrator A Tennessee native and graduate of the Art Institute of Atlanta, Angi now calls Montrose, Colorado, home, where she enjoys life with her husband and their three dogs. Nature is her sanctuary, and she treasures time spent hiking the trails with her furry companions—reminders to slow down and savor the beauty that surrounds us. Art has always been Angi’s lifelong passion. She delights in illustrating children’s books and dreams of one day writing and illustrating her own.
