Everett Monthly Critique Session

It's time to help each other grow as writers!! Join for an hour to read each other's work and provide specific feedback on what the writer is looking for. We'll end the time with an optional opportunity to connect with your fellow local writers, brag about your project and cheer on others, and even get answers to quick problems you're running into with your project. What you should bring: A print-out of the work you're looking to get feedback on. To respect time, and hopefully get more than one person's feedback, please limit the work to 4,000 words, or a long chapter. If you are unable to print out your own works, please message the host, Tiela Combs, to request she print it out ahead of time. A pen to fill out a provided critique form for each work you read. The right headspace to both give and receive feedback. You are welcome to wait until after the meeting to read what feedback you receive, but please remember that your fellow writers are just as human as you are as you write down your feedback for them. What you can expect: Tiela, the host, will provide Critique Forms. Authors can request specific feedback on the work they brought, as well as provide helpful context for the reviewers. The first few minutes will be an intro to the work you've brought, the genre, and fill out your section of the Critique Form. The next hour will see each work be reviewed at least once, with a Critique Form filled out with specific feedback. The best feedback will come from those who write or read in your genre, however depending on attendance, this may not be guaranteed, and should be kept in mind when giving and receiving feedback. At Large Brewing is an all-ages brewery off of downtown Everett with simple menu (and allows outside food) and a very large parking lot. * A table will have a sign labeled "Writers of Snohomish County" clearly taped to the back of a chair.
