EPAT: Community Paint-Out

In honor of the more than 100-year history of artists painting outdoors in West Texas, the entire community is invited to participate in a downtown paint-out. SAMFA is hoping to set a world record for the most people painting plein air at once in one venue and we need your help! Whether you are an experienced artist, a student, or simply someone who wants to try painting outdoors for the first time, come be part of this creative West Texas moment. Painters will check in at 8 AM at the San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts. Awards for best entries in age-based categories will be announced at 1 PM. The San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts (SAMFA) hopes to break a world record for participants in a community painting event on Saturday, Oct. 24. According to RecordSetter.com, we need 157 participants to break the record held by a town in Australia. Who can participate? Anybody who can hold a brush is welcome, no experience required. You don’t even need art supplies – we will have plenty for you to use. Why? To celebrate the more than 100-year tradition of artists painting outdoors in West Texas, to solidify our position as the Visual Arts Capitol of Texas, and bring further cultural attention to San Angelo and the Concho Valley. When? Saturday, October 24 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM: Registration and complimentary pancake breakfast for participating artists.
