Emancipator Emancipator is the stage name of Douglas Appling, a Portland-based electronic producer and DJ whose sound blends downtempo, trip-hop, and organic instrumentation. Classically trained on violin and shaped by an eclectic upbringing - from Kraftwerk and Orbital to African rhythms his mother brought back from the Peace Corps - Appling brings an unusually broad musical palette to electronic production. He self-released his debut album Soon It Will Be Cold Enough in 2006 as a college student and has since built a catalog of eight studio albums and founded his own label, Loci Records. Live, he performs with the Emancipator Ensemble, a full band that transforms his studio work into an immersive, layered experience. Johnathan Singer Johnathan Singer is a Northern California-based live visual artist and VJ with over two decades of experience pushing the boundaries of real-time multimedia performance. Rooted in the street art and creative culture of Los Angeles, Singer evolved from publishing and graphic work into pioneering immersive visual experiences that blend computer-generated imagery, 3D animation, and custom effects. He has performed alongside some of the most celebrated names in psychedelic and jam music, including the Grateful Dead 50th Anniversary shows, Dead & Company, Tipper, Shpongle, and the Allman Brothers, as well as collaborating with visionary artists Alex and Allyson Grey and Amanda Sage. His work transforms live concerts into full sensory experiences where the visuals are as much a performance as the music itself.
