The Gospel Soul Series, hosted by Debra James Tucker, continues with Ellisa (Lisa) Coston and her band performing a special tribute to the music of Tramaine Hawkins. Ellisa has been singing since the age of 3 and participates and is an Alto section leader in the Gregory J. Watkins and the Worship & Praise Chorale, and the Columbus Baptist Pastors Revival Choir. Her love of music even spilled into theater, having acted in various roles with the Hilliard Arts Council. Lisa has also provided background vocals for local gospel artists; Terry Davis, Joshua Powell, Elder Jamar Jamerson, Evg. Cherry Ridley, Lady Nikki Humphrey, Teresca Showell, and national recording artists; Quan Howell, Nia Allen, Zacardi Cortez, Jermaine Dolly and Lisa Page-Brooks. Currently, Lisa serves as a worship leader under the leadership of her husband, Minister of Music, Brian Coston at Trinity Baptist Church. This monthly series is hosted and coordinated by Debra James Tucker, who has received extensive training in jazz, classical and gospel music. She is the writer/performer of the one woman show Survival of the Boulevard Singer—winner of an Ohio Arts Council Award for Individual Excellence, has been visiting instructor at Denison University in the history of African American Gospel Music, and an artist in residence with several youth arts organizations.
