About this event
What makes life meaningful? And how does meaning in life relate to happiness and morality? We'll tackle these questions and more in our inaugural installment of the Elevated Thoughts Philosophy Group, presented in partnership with CU Boulder. Participants will read Meaning in Life and Why It Matters (46 pages) by UNC Chapel Hill philosophy professor Susan Wolf and then join us to explore the text's meaning and the value it offers us. The discussion will be held over Zoom, and folks are welcome to join even if they haven't finished the reading. You can find the reading, as well as a short reading guide with questions to consider, here. Please register to get the meeting link, and because we'll need at least two participants to hold the discussion. About Elevated Thoughts Philosophy Group Elevated Thoughts Philosophy Group is a partnership between the Estes Valley Library and the Philosophy Outreach Program of Colorado (POPCO) at CU Boulder. Each month, we'll read a relatively short philosophical text and then meet online on the fourth Thursday of the month to discuss the text. Each month's reading will be posted on the group site in advance. We'll need at least two registered participants to hold the discussion, and we encourage participants to attend even if they haven't finished the reading. Discussions are facilitated by philosophy Ph.D. candidate Kyle York and other CU Boulder philosophy graduate students. Facilitators will focus on encouraging and guiding a group discussion/learning event rather than on teaching. We hope you'll join us!
