Electronics Recycling Day

The City of Hannibal is sponsoring Electronics Recycling Day 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 4 in the parking lot of the Admiral Coontz Recreation Center. The company TechRemove from St. Louis contracts with municipalities to help recycle old electronics. Most of the items can be recycled for free but there is a fee for recycling the following items: • CRT Monitor $5 • CRT TV $30 • Projection TV $30 • LCD TV $20 A list of acceptable materials include any items with a cord or battery including: • Computers and Networking: Desktop PCs, laptops, tablets, CRT computer monitors, LCD computer monitors, modems/touters/internet gateways/switches, servers, computer components, all cables and power cords • Home Audio: LCD TVS, plasma screen TVs, projection TVs, CRT TVs, home stereo equipment, iPods and MP3 players, radios/boomboxes, speakers and subwoofers • Pro Audio: Rack mount audio components, mixing consoles, cables, speakers and studio equipment and recording, mixing or audio equipment • Office: Printers, copiers, scanners, FAX machines, dot matrix printers, plotters and large-format printers, 3-D printers, ink and toner cartridges, shredders, paper joggers, paper cutters, paper folders, mail machines, miscellaneous office electronics • Home Video and Gaming: Projectors, blue-ray, DVD, VCR, Betamax, Laserdisc, cable boxes, satellite dishes, video game consoles and accessories • Photography and Lighting: DSLR, SLR cameras, camcorders, film cameras, camera lenses, light mixers, stage lighting fixtures • Miscellaneous: Any appliance Under 10 pounds or 14-by-14-by-14 in size, power tools, any other items with a cord or battery Materials not accepted include: smoke detectors, light bulbs, fluorescent tubes, alkaline batteries, PCB ballasts, thermometers, thermostats and hazardous materials.
