Enjoy engaging and fun family activities celebrating nature and the beautiful plants all around us! Be sure to catch special performances of Contrary Mary’s Garden with Mama Koku. Live Performances: Contrary Mary’s Garden with Mama Koku Shows at 10:15 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. in the Children’s Garden Amphitheatre. The story of Contrary Mary’s Garden comes to life through the immersive storytelling of Mama Koku, author of Little Black Fairy and Other Very Fairy Stories, Poems, Rhythms & Rhymes. Young audience members will become the seeds, soil, sun, water, and of course the many flowers of this classic nursery rhyme! Mama Koku is an accomplished storyteller, writer, and teaching artist throughout Atlanta and beyond. Activity Stations – Drop in between 10 a.m. and noon Musical Instruments – Try out various instruments made from plants from around the world. Earth-Friendly Art – Admire the beauty of our world in more ways than one when you design your own Nature Print. Seed Planting – Plant some spring seeds to take home. Georgia Wildlife Scavenger Hunt – Investigate the fascinating world of animals living in Georgia as you search for hidden critters in the Children’s Garden. Pick up a hunt sheet at the entrance to its location. “Worm Wishes” – Gently explore worms up close, while also thinking about ways to take care of the Earth. “Waste to Wonder” with No More Liddering – Help us create a floral art installation for display in the Children’s Garden using upcycled plastic lids and learn how you can help reduce our community’s plastic footprint. We may cancel or move indoors if rain, cold temperatures or inclement weather make outdoor programming impractical. To check the status, email classes@atlantabg.org.
