DWC: Backwoods Builders
6th-8th grade Return to your roots and discover the art of crafting with nature! At Backwoods Builders Camp, we will learn how to build in the wild, through a transformation of natural materials into useful and creative items. Through hands-on projects like paracord and basket weaving or sling and atlatl building, you will participate in the techniques the Native Americans practiced. Explore traditional skills such as flint knapping, cordage weaving, and even making tree bark containers. With fun, practical activities like jelly and jam making, this camp is perfect for curious minds who love working with their hands and exploring the possibilities of the wild! ** This camp is located at Dogwood Canyon in Lampe, Missouri. Students will be shuttled to and from Wonders of Wildlife each day for pickup and drop off. For alternate drop-off/pick-up accommodations, please reach out to edu@wondersofwildlife.org upon registration.
