Join Puget Sound Estuarium at the Olympia Timberland Library for our Discovery Speaker Series. Every 1st Thursday of the month we invite you to learn and stay informed about current environmental research or sustainability projects. You'll hear from scientists, educators, artists, and earth advocates about their current work, research, or organization. Plus get your questions answered live after the talk! About the presentation: Pacific Herring in the Nisqually Reach The Nisqually Indian Tribe and Long Live the Kings invite you to learn about a collaborative project, guided by local and indigenous knowledge, to better understand Pacific herring in the Nisqually Reach. Discover the essential role these small silvery fish play in both salmon recovery and ecosystem health. About the speakers: Jed Moore (Nisqually Indian Tribe): Jed has a MSC in Marine Resource Management from Oregon State University and has worked as a research biologist for the Nisqually Indian Tribe for over 10 years. Jayde Essex (Long Live the Kings): Jayde holds a BS in Biology from Appalachian State University and has worked in salmon recovery and habitat restoration since moving to the PNW in 2020. Liz Duffy (Long Live the Kings): Liz holds a PhD in Aquatic and Fishery Sciences from the University of Washington and has over 20 years of experience in research and conservation of coastal aquatic species and ecosystems.
