Discovering U.S. Military Records

Want to learn more about U.S. military records? This class with instructor Del Ritchhart focuses on online sites for researching military records. Attendees will be surprised by how many resources are available for military research. Del will cover well-known sites such as Fold3 and the National Archives, as well as many lesser-known sites that hold a wealth of information. We'll also discuss ways to identify ancestors who served in wars dating back to the Revolutionary War, including how to determine whether you qualify for membership in the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) or Sons of the American Revolution (SAR). The first part of the class will be a PowerPoint overview of these sites, followed by a live demonstration of how to search and navigate them. Handouts will be available.
