Join artist, collector, master draftsman and a member of Puget Sound Book Artists Mark Hoppmann for a fascinating 90-minute hands-on workshop celebrating the art of handwriting. Mark will share selections from his remarkable collection of historic and unusual writing tools — an experience reminiscent of a miniature “Antiques Roadshow” for pen lovers and curious creatives alike. Then, with guidance from Puget Sound Book Artists member Jane Carlin, participants will have the opportunity to experiment with handmade bamboo quills, calligraphy pens, and a variety of lettering techniques. Explore the expressive possibilities of ink, line, and letterform while discovering the simple pleasure of writing by hand. No experience is necessary — just curiosity and a willingness to play, create, and reconnect with the written word. Adults of all skill levels are welcome.
