Englewood - Online, Englewood Public Library. Historian Richard Feingold presents "Dick Clark's American Bandstand-Philadelphia-1957-1964" on Tuesday, October 6 at 7 p.m. on Zoom. You MUST register to receive the Zoom link. The link will be sent two hours before the program. American Bandstand originated in 1957 as a five-day-a-week afternoon television show. It featured teenagers dancing to Top 40 records introduced by Dick Clark. Students would dance on the show which all their teachers watched. This program set in Philadelphia between 1957-1964 features original live Bandstand performances of Rock Around the Clock with Bill Haley and the Comets, Mack the Knife by Bobby Darin, Tears on My Pillow by Little Anthony, Charlie Brown by the Coasters, Great Balls of Fire by Jerry Lee Lewis, Rock ‘n Roll is Here to Stay by Danny and the Juniors and more. Rick Feingold worked as the marketing director at the Center for the Performing Arts at Penn State University. He teaches American Business History at Bergen Community College. He holds an MBA from Penn State University and a B.A. in History from Rutgers University. This program is sponsored by The Friends of the Englewood Library.
