About this event
We’re heading back to Las Trampas to explore a different side of the park! This time we’ll hike the western Rocky Ridge area, with sweeping views, sandstone formations, shaded woodland, and a descent into Devil’s Hole before climbing back up Sycamore Trail. This is a 6.3-mile loop with about 1,900 ft of elevation gain. Expect steep climbs and descents, rocky footing, and a mix of exposed ridgeline and shaded sections. Recent hikers have reported overgrown sections on Devil’s Hole and Sycamore, including some harder-to-follow stretches. Long pants are strongly recommended. We’ll assess conditions as we go and adjust the route if needed. Our usual hiking pace is around 21–23 minutes per mile. Everyone attending should be comfortable with sustained climbs and keeping up with the main group, though we’ll slow down where the terrain requires it.
