Buildings contribute significantly to global warming—not only through how we heat and cool them, but through the materials we use to construct them. Healthy, breathable buildings made from bio-based, plant-derived materials offer a powerful path toward a carbon-negative future—one that supports the health of both our planet and the people who inhabit it. Come learn how April and the Root Down team are pioneering this movement across the Southeast and beyond through progressive architecture, hands-on building workshops, and educational classes that are transforming the way we think about—and build—the places we call home. April Magill is a leading voice and pioneer in climate-smart, healthy, and sustainable building. She is the founder and owner of Charleston-based Root Down Designs, as well as the founder and executive director of a nonprofit advancing healthy, affordable housing for disadvantaged communities. As an educator and adjunct professor at the American College of the Building Arts, April teaches sustainable building practices and materials and has led numerous community workshops. She is also a sought-after national speaker on bio-based, carbon-negative building materials. https://rootdowndesigns.com/ Sierra Club mission statement: To explore, enjoy, and protect the wild places…
