Design Your Surface -Deepen with Tempest NeuCollins

About this event

Designing your Surface with Line, Inlay, and Mark-Making: Deepen In yet another exciting class with Tempest, we'll work with wax, trailing, inlay, and wipe-back, methods for building line, texture, and buried color into a ceramic surface, and push them into more complex, layered territory. Rather than treating each method as its own isolated mark, we'll think about surface design in three dimensions: what happens on the surface, what sits above it, and what gets buried below it, and how those layers can work together on a single piece. If you took the first of our series this fall, you'll already have hands-on practice with these techniques and can dive straight into combining them. If you're new to the class, Tempest will provide you with all of the basics you'll need. this class is open to intermediate and advanced students ready to work with these methods directly, and we'll cover enough of the foundation along the way to get you layering with confidence. We will be using the hand building technique to create your surfaces during this class. If you prefer creating your forms on the wheel, You can do so during open studio time Class Fee: $245 Class Includes 25 pounds of clay-More is available for purchase - 12 hours of open studio practice time Earlybird discount of $10 is available through October 7
