About this event

Join Beavers Northwest staff to learn about these amazing animals, including their unique adaptations and behaviors, incredible ecological benefits, as well as the challenges and opportunities afforded by living with beavers in a landscape dominated by human infrastructure. As ecosystem engineers, beavers have a big impact on the habitats that they call home. By building dams and creating wetlands, beavers support biodiversity in many urban and exurban waterways throughout the Puget Sound region. This can often be a boon for fish and wildlife sharing this space, and sometimes be a headache for people nearby. Presented by Joe Mouser. Joe Mouser joined Beavers Northwest as communications manager in 2024. He is an alumni of the University of Washington where he studied plant biology and wetlands science and management. His passion for wetland ecosystems is what originally drew him to beavers, but his love for these incredible animals has taken on a life of its own. In partnership with Defenders of Highline Forest
