Degenerations of generalized Kummer varieties

Location: 11th Floor Lecture Hall Speaker Klaus Hulek, Leibniz-University Hannover Session Chair Kiran Kedlaya, University of California San Diego Abstract The aim of this talk is to explain an explicit constructions of degenerations of generalized Kummer varieties. This is based on the degeneration techniques for generalized Hilbert schemes of K3 surfaces which was developed by the speaker together with M. Gulbrandsen, L. Halle and, later, also Z. Zhang. We shall discuss the geometry of the degenerations. This is joint work with with L. Halle and Z. Zhang.
