This eye-opening book was awarded the National Endowment for the Humanities 2024 Public Scholar Award. Tonight, join Pittsburgh author Sarah Valentine as she shares an inside look at this fascinating chapter of history and the overlooked but crucial contributions of these women, as well as the prejudice and other challenges they faced during their service. Explore their story, and learn about Sarah’s approach to researching and writing about this previously untold history.
