DAVID ZAYAS JR.: SOLO ART SHOW Friday, September 18 at 8PM Tom Kane Theatre at brooklynONE Productions brooklynONE Productions presents the first-ever solo photography exhibition from Bronx-born photographer, filmmaker, actor and director David Zayas Jr. Long before his work as a theatre and film director, Zayas began his artistic journey behind the camera. Over more than a decade, photography became a foundation for a creative career that would eventually take him across New York’s independent film and theatre communities. Now, for the first time, that body of photographic work takes center stage. DAVID ZAYAS JR.: SOLO ART SHOW transforms the Tom Kane Theatre into a gallery for an evening celebrating Zayas’ photography, visual storytelling and distinctive perspective on the people and world around him. Zayas is a multidisciplinary New York artist and member of LAByrinth Theater Company and The Actors Studio’s Playwright/Directors Unit. His directing career includes his Off-Broadway debut with Sam Shepard’s Simpatico, work with LAByrinth’s Barn Series, Chain Theatre, Planet Connections and Actors Theatre of NY, as well as brooklynONE Productions, where he has previously directed on the Tom Kane Theatre stage that will now house his first solo photography exhibition. His work also extends into independent filmmaking, with films screened and recognized at festivals around the country. For bkONE, this exhibition marks another chapter in an ongoing artistic relationship with Zayas, this time turning the spotlight away from the stage and toward the images he creates behind the camera.
