About this event
Create, learn, explore.! Join us for a creative afternoon for youth aged 10+. Meet other people who like to create, make art, and share ideas. Each month we will have a specific staff-led project that everyone can join in on, one STEM challenge with limited supplies, materials and tools for exploration, and space for youth work on their own projects. This is a time for middle school aged students to learn a new skill, or independently use maker equipment. If there are neurodivergent youth interested in doing a project and attending in-person programming is difficult or causes discomfort, please reach out to Josie at josieh@deschuteslibrary.org to request a take-home kit with instructions and materials for one aspect of the program. We will have a limited number of kits. Questions? Contact Librarian Josie Hanneman at josieh@deschuteslibrary.org. This program does not fulfill the Basic Use & Safety training required for the following Deschutes Public Library MakerSpace equipment: Soldering Iron Cricut Cutting Machines: Maker 3 Sewing Machines: Baby Lock Joy Serger: Baby Lock Celebrate 3D Printers: Prusa MK4 (Redmond) and Prusa Core One+ (Central) Customers who are 17 or older and hold a valid Deschutes Public Library card can schedule a 30-minute training appointment with a MakerSpace staff member. Once a training is complete, equipment is available for use during Explore hours on a first-come, first-served basis. Training appointments can be scheduled on the MakerSpace webpage. Children under 17 are welcome to attend the training with their guardian.
