In Lao kitchens, every dish tells a story and every bite excites. The food culture of Laos has historically been preserved through oral tradition and passed down family recipes, and in this essential guide to Lao cooking, personal chef, content creator, and cookbook author Saeng Douangdara draws on his expertise and the food knowledge passed down from his family to share the beauty and history of Lao cuisine. Join us at MCPL-Wausau and Saeng will share how food offers a powerful lens for understanding the refugee experience and how immigrants have helped shape Wisconsin and communities across the country through food. Copies of “The Lao Kitchen” will also be available for purchase on site through The Story Cellar. This free Central Wisconsin Book Festival event is open to adults, with no registration.
