About this event

Want to turn your yard into a bird paradise? Gardener, educator, and ecologist Mariette Nowak has a simple suggestion: think beyond birdfeeders and consider “birdscaping”. Join us at MCPL-Wausau from 11:00 to 12:00 for a discussion with the author of “Birdscaping for Wisconsin & the Great Lakes.” Mariette’s indispensable guide for gardeners throughout the Upper Midwest highlights the fifty best native plants for attracting beloved bird species such as Ruby-throated Hummingbirds, American Goldfinches, Eastern Bluebirds, Indigo Buntings, Cedar Waxwings, and Wood Warblers. Nowak will share her best gardening tips, discuss the inspiration for her book, and answer audience questions. Copies of the book will also be available for purchase on site through Janke Book Store. This free Central Wisconsin Book Festival event is open to adults, with no registration. We’ll meet in the Community Room. Call 715-261-7230 for more information. The Central Wisconsin Book Festival is incredibly grateful for the generous support of foundations, organizations, businesses, and individuals throughout our community.
