About this event

Offsite - See Program Description. A monthly lecture series to bring learning out of the library and into the community! Each month we'll be joined by a community expert, educator or academic to share their knowledge, inspire conversation and interesting questions. Programs may explore local history, science, culture and the arts. There are no classrooms, exams or required notes just an opportunity to learn something new, meet your neighbors and enjoy. Join us at Moderation Brewing 21 Town Hall Place, Brunswick, on Thursday October 29th as we hear from Dr. Manoj Kamalanathan of Bigelow labs. Often dismissed as little more than “pond scum,” algae are capable of far more than we might imagine. From food and medicine to fuels, organic fertilizers, health supplements, sustainable fashion, wastewater treatment, and even addressing climate change, the sheer diversity of algae-based applications offers enormous potential. This talk will explore the fascinating world of algae, their many applications, and how these tiny organisms could play a surprisingly big role in building a more sustainable future, and how you can be part of the algae revolution.
