About this event
In this edWebinar, Dr. Gholdy Muhammad will engage elementary educators and school and district leaders in an interactive exploration of culturally and historically responsive education, focusing on cultivating identity, skills, intellect, criticality, and joy. Through modeling and classroom-based examples, Dr. Muhammad will share ways educators can integrate these five pursuits with literacy instruction and the Science of Reading while creating meaningful, affirming learning experiences for students. Attendees will explore strategies for layering texts, supporting interdisciplinary and social-emotional learning, engaging parents and families, and connecting instruction to students’ local communities. An instructional unit will illustrate how these principles come together in practice, with opportunities for attendees to experience selected activities from a student perspective. Attendees will leave with practical strategies they can adapt for use in their own classrooms, schools, and districts. This edWebinar will be of interest to K-5 teachers, school leaders, and district leaders. For more information and to register, visit: https://home.edweb.net/webinars/
