Join folklore scholar Dr. Mintzi Martínez-Rivera for an exploration of folklore, symbolism, and the natural world inspired by Clare Rojas: Returning. Drawing from her expertise in folklore, Dr. Martínez-Rivera will guide participants through a series of works in the exhibition, inviting us to look closely and consider the stories, symbols, and relationships that emerge around birds, witches, transformation, intuition, and renewal. Register About Dr. Mintzi Martínez-Rivera Dr. Mintzi Auanda Martínez-Rivera is an Associate Professor of Folklore and Latinx Studies at The Ohio State University. She has a dual PhD in Folklore and Anthropology from Indiana University-Bloomington (2014). She has published on the indigenous rock movement in México, on P’urhépecha vernacular cultural practices, on conducting research in conflict zones, and decolonizing research methodologies. She is author of Creating Culture, Performing Community: An Angahuan Wedding Story (Indiana University Press, 2025). She co-edited Theorizing Folklore from the Margins: Critical and Ethical Approaches with Dr. Solimar Otero (Indiana University Press, 2021). She is currently co-editing the Routledge Handbook on Anthropology and Folklore with Dr. Ziying You.
