About this event
Meeting room. Cosmic Horizons - A constellation tour including history, geography, and science all together What are stars? History of ancient civilizations naming the 12 zodiac constellations. A tour of the night throughout the year as the constellations make their way across the sky. Devin Mathai, is a third-year Astronomy major at the University of Arizona Devin states "Throughout my college journey thus far, I have served as an Undergraduate Research Assistant at the university and as a Planetary Geologist for the NASA L'SPACE Mission Concept Academy. These experiences have given me a strong foundation in topics such as the lunar south pole, binary galaxies, and dark matter, as well as extensive experience presenting content-rich material to the public. In addition to completing my major, I have been working on achieving a Certificate of Civic Leadership presented by the Honors College at the Uof A. My path to pursuing these goals, combined with outreach events I have been a part of in the past, inspired me to create a program that seeks to provide accessible opportunities for the community to connect with Astronomy."
