Contemporary Art Gallery Tour Series A series of guided contemporary art gallery tours in New York City. Tours will primarily take place in Chelsea, with additional tours in the Madison Avenue area and Tribeca, depending on the exhibitions on view during the season. Each tour will include guided discussion and interpretation of the exhibitions, providing participants with insight into contemporary artists, artistic movements, and the current gallery scene. Each tour is offered as an individual event. Participants may register separately for each tour. This event is 21+ Transportation from JCC and back can be arranged. Thursdays starting October 8 Upcoming Tours: (Subject to change) October 8 October 15 October 22 October 29 November 19 Time: 11 AM-1 PM $60 Members / $72 Guests Register Here About the Guide: Tobi Kahn is a painter and sculptor whose art has been the subject of more than 70 solo museum exhibitions, with works held in the permanent collections of the Guggenheim, The Phillips Collection, the Yale University Art Gallery, the Minneapolis Institute of Art, the Albright-Knox, the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, and The Jewish Museum, among others. In 2022, The Phillips Collection devoted an installation to seven of his paintings spanning four decades, drawing coverage in Forbes, Hyperallergic, and The Brooklyn Rail. His commissioned work lives in the places where people go to grieve, reflect, and heal: a floor installation and two bronze memorial sculptures at the 9/11 Memorial Museum; Holocaust memorial gardens in La Jolla and Tenafly; meditative spaces for the HealthCare Chaplaincy and Auburn Theological Seminary; outdoor sculpture in New Harmony, Indiana, and on the Philadelphia campus of Thomas Jefferson University. For over thirty years he has taught fine arts at the School of Visual Arts and lectured internationally on visual language and on art as a form of healing — and that gift for teaching is what makes walking a gallery…
