🗣 **Confronting AI: Is it Too Late to Stop the AI Revolution? -- Manny's (& Dinner Before)** 🔆 Join Professors Will Fithian and Wes Holliday for a conversation about the feasibility of an international pause on frontier AI training. They’ll explore the technical, political, economic and practical challenges involved: What exactly would a “pause” mean? How could it be verified and enforced? What incentives might lead countries and companies to participate? And is international coordination on AI development realistic? ● Professor Will Fithian (University of California, Berkeley) is an associate professor in the Department of Statistics. His research interests include post-selection inference / selective inference, scalable algorithms for massive data sets, multivariate analysis and dimensionality reduction in large data sets, methods for stable estimation and inference in heavy-tailed data, ecological statistics and microecology data, and theoretical and applied statistics. ● Professor Wes Holliday (University of California, Berkeley) is a professor of philosophy, working mainly in logic and social choice theory. In logic, his research has ranged over modal and nonclassical logic, logic and natural language, and logic and probability.
