Join us for a very special concert with Whatever Lola Wants, commissioned in response to our summer exhibition This Land: Considering The American Landscape. Lola Lama, the front woman of Whatever Lola Wants and recent BFA Drama Graduate from the New Studio on Broadway at NYU Tisch, takes audiences on a journey through the American Musical Theater landscape. Performing classics like “Whatever Lola Wants” from Damn Yankees and “Can’t We Be Friends” from Fine and Dandy, while offering the fascinating history behind them. Lama is joined by Whatever Lola Wants bandmates Matthew Brand on keyboard and Dylan Hewett on bass. Learn about your favorite showtunes, uncover the transformations in Musical Theater history, and enjoy a one of a kind performance by rising stars of the East End. Lite bites and a cash bar will be available for this performance! ABOUT THE ARTISTS WHATEVER LOLA WANTS is the East End’s very own youthful American Songbook and Jazz trio. They aim to unite the community through the power of music, and by authentically resurfacing timeless tunes that speak to love & humanity. The titular vocalist, Lola Lama, is a local actor, singer, and performer. With beginnings at Sag Harbor Elementary and Pierson, Lama recently earned a BFA in Drama from the New Studio on Broadway at NYU Tisch. She also received training at Experimental Theater Wing at NYU, Atlantic Acting School, and Interlochen Arts Academy. In addition to Whatever Lola Wants, Lama is the lead singer of the local multi-generational female-centric 80’s Rock band, The Cherry Bombs.
