About this event

A Quinceañera is a significant milestone in Latine culture, a coming-of-age celebrated at the age of 15 to mark one's transition into adulthood. The celebration centers around one person, the Quinceañera, who is honored through traditional Latinx ceremonies surrounded by an audience of family and friends. Con Mucho Amor reimagines these traditions by centering queer and trans people, many of whom grow up feeling excluded from this cultural rite of passage. What to Expect: •Quinceañera Ceremonies honoring 6 local queer Artists •Guinness World Record's Oldest Performing Drag King, El Daña (CA) •Dance party by DJ Lavender Thug •Donation-based bar (for guests 21+) •Cake by local Latinx cake designer •Live musical performances •Located at the Newly Renovated Emma S. Barrientos Mexican American Cultural Center ASL Interpretation and Purifiers by Clear the Air will be provided. Masks are encouraged and extras will be available. No strobe lighting will be used. ESBMACC is a fully ADA-compliant facility. What to wear: Quince's are traditionally formal, but this is queer event so whatever feels good on your body! (Showing out is recommended.) This project is supported in part by an Elevate Grant of Austin Arts, Culture, Music, and Entertainment.
