About this event

Followed by a discussion with director Santiago Burin des Roziers and reception House of Fish Dir. Santiago Burin des Roziers. 2026, 85 mins. In Italian with English subtitles. At the crossroads of art, activism, and the ocean lies the extraordinary story of Paolo Fanciulli, a humble Italian fisherman with a revolutionary vision. After witnessing decades of destruction caused by illegal bottom trawling, Paolo devised a bold solution: an underwater museum of monumental marble sculptures that protect the seabed by preventing trawling while standing as powerful symbols of hope and resistance. House of Fish follows his remarkable journey, blending intimate personal storytelling with a natural history perspective on the fragile Mediterranean ecosystem. Through breathtaking underwater cinematography, the film reveals the devastating impact of industrial fishing on endangered marine life and vital habitats, including Posidonia oceanica, a seagrass essential to biodiversity and carbon capture. More than a conservation documentary, House of Fish is a cinematic celebration of courage, creativity, and community, inspiring audiences to reconnect with the ocean and recognize that one person’s vision can help transform the future of our seas. East Coast premiere. Followed by a reception from 9:00-11:00 p.m. Tickets: $20 / 25% discount for MoMI members. There is a $1.50 transaction fee per ticket for all online purchases. The cost of admission may be applied toward a same-day purchase of a membership. Order Tickets. Please pick up tickets at the Museum’s admissions desk upon arrival. All seating is general admission.
