About this event

A hybrid narrative and documentary film, The Tuba Thieves (2024) is a sonic portrait of Los Angeles. From 2011 to 2013, tubas were stolen from Los Angeles high schools. This is not a story about thieves or missing tubas. Instead, it asks what it means to listen. The screening will be followed by a Q&A with Alison O’Daniel, the film’s director, and Will Schmenner, film scholar and head of public programs. A 5 pm reception in the Manton Research Center reading room precedes the event. Live ASL interpretation will be provided. Free. Advance registration encouraged. Accessible seats available. Call 413 458 0570 with any questions. Register
