About this event

Civic Arkansas is a statewide collaborative initiative focused on improving Arkansas’s civic health by strengthening local communities and expanding pathways for connection and engagement. The Civic Arkansas Democracy Reading Challenge takes its inspiration from Gov. Winthrop Rockefeller’s words: "Every citizen has the duty to be informed, to be thoughtfully concerned, and to participate in the search for solutions." We hope these books spark reflection, conversation, and action. Select a book to read from the 2026 recommended reading list. You can also see the list in our catalog. Each title this year was handpicked by Arkansas librarians. The books are nonpartisan, chosen to deepen our understanding of American democracy and the many ways we can engage as citizens. Share your thoughts and impressions about the book you read and hear from other readers. Conversation is one way to participate in civic engagement and connect as citizens! This program is free and open to the public. No registration required. For disability accommodations, call 479.856.7250 or email questions@faylib.org 2-3 weekdays before a program. Plan your visit by viewing our building map and details on accessibility services.
