CineMed is a film discussion series that explores medicine through cinema, using film as a lens to reflect on illness, patient experience, and clinical insight. This Halloween, CineMed checks in to Ashecliffe Hospital. We will screen Shutter Island (2010), Martin Scorsese’s psychological thriller following U.S. Marshal Teddy Daniels as he investigates a patient’s disappearance from an island hospital for the criminally insane. Following the screening, we will be joined by Albert Powers, MD, PhD, Associate Professor of Psychiatry and Medical Director of the Yale PRIME Psychosis Risk Clinic, for a conversation about the film and the experiences it portrays.
